Taverna Greek Resto Bar & Grill: Experience Authentic Greek Cuisine in Moncton

My kids took me to Taverna for Mother’s Day, and all I can say is WOW! The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is so unique and welcoming, it really made the experience special. This is hands down the best food I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend Taverna to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience!

Congratulations to Billy and his team for this restaurant and a huge thank you for our wonderful experience. My family and I popped in for lunch yesterday and enjoyed all we ate - from the shrimp or chicken brochettes to the sausages to the Greek (and regular!) salads to the lentil soup, etc. Portions were hot and the meals perfectly sized. Tzatziki and feta were both fresh and delicious. Taverna offers drink and lunch specials which also makes this restaurant very affordable (not easy to find these days!). The ambiance is lovely and the space is beautifully decorated. The bathrooms are even gorgeous - and coming from someone who despises public bathrooms - that’s a massive compliment! What really made the experience wonderful was that the owner, Billy, swung by each table to say hello. We discovered that he is also originally from Montreal and rebuilt a new life and this fantastic spot in Moncton. He brought us complimentary baklava - incredible. Went the twice now. The service is amazing, the staff is very friendly. The food and drinks are crazy good. The only complaint we had was that theres no gyros on the menu... :( It's the only thing I would change/add to Taverna.

I’ve never eaten in such a cozy, sophisticated restaurant with such good cuisine. It was a wonderful experience. The food is well seasoned, all the dishes came with a generous amount of food, the meats were at perfectly perfect point, the salads very fresh. Overall, very good quality and fresh food. We love it, we would definitely come back.

From the moment you enter the atmosphere and good vibe surrounds you. People smiling, laughing and conversing. The sound of dishes, glasses clinking, and shared memories. Each member of the Taverna team provides a welcoming feeling, from the host to the person buying the tables. Third time here and everything we chose was delicious. We enjoyed sitting upstairs for a different view. Every detail of Taverna was created to make your experience one you want to share!

We went for dinner in early July 2025. The positives: great ambiance and wonderful service. We ordered the swordfish - it was quite dry, and the pork shish kebab - also very dry, 1 kebab for $29. The meals come with rice, potatoes and a vinegary coleslaw-like salad, you have to pay extra for a Greek salad. We didn't feel the food was worth the price. Went back for lunch July 2025 and ordered a lunch plate which usually comes with rice, potatoes, kebab and house salad. The chicken kebab was really tender and potatoes were great. I requested no rice, only potatoes which they accommodated. Upgraded to Greek salad which wasn't worth it as there was too much dressing, almost soup like. Feta was very generous though. Changing my review to 4 stars since it was better today than last year.

It's a shame that nowadays it seems you need to break the Bank to get an authentic meal, but this is a place that makes it hurt a bit less. Fantastic experience all-around. I'd rather pay full pull than save 30% somewhere else for 80% less quality. Just sayin'. Ps. If you have never had Saganaki...love yourself & try

I can’t say enough about this restaurant! Just amazing, the atmosphere, the food, the drinks (and the informative details about specific wine was impressive)! Vasilly - known as Billy to the majority, is the owner/manager and what a ship he runs! The staff all look like they don’t want to leave. You can see the pride and joy they have in their work - so rare to see these days! I sat alone as I was having a couple of ‘me’ days, and I was treated like a queen - every detail. The service was friendly, and exactly timed. I never felt as though I were being rushed, and yet anything I needed was tended to right away. Fernando, Alfred (I’m pretty sure that was his name), Summer, Milly +++ Everyone was just amazing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Taverna, and will visit whenever I come back to Moncton! Efreristo polli!!
